Later, the term ‘globalization’ began to be used to refer to ‘incorporate outsourcing’, which is nothing but the outsourcing of job opportunities from the western countries to developing countries that offered much cheaper and better labor. However, the current trend of globalization in the professional world is a little different.
In the present scenario, concept of globalization has attained another totally different dimension. It is now used to refer to the ability of different professions to connect with other people in similar professions in different regions of the globe at a much higher frequency.
In majority of cases today, it is quite usual to collaborate and communicate with vendors, suppliers, co-workers, and customers from across the globe regularly on a day-to-day basis. Globalization, in short, has made the world a small place for people of similar professions to work together in a coordinated manner at a much faster pace. Extensive use of web technologies has further simplified the process of collaborating with other businesses beyond the boundaries of the home country. Use of Internet and other similar technologies help immensely in sharing ideas, accessing sensitive information, and transferring important documents between countries in just a few seconds.
Another trend in globalization for professions is a leveled playing field with cut-throat competition and great opportunities to grow and learn. It now means greater job opportunities in all professions, efficient workforce, competitive work environment, diversity and integrity in the global workforce. In the current scenario, globalization has eliminated the scope for racial or ethnic discriminations and has provided a common working platform for one and all.
