Some of these pollutants emitted out are:
Hydrocarbons - Hydrocarbons are nothing but partially or completely burned fuel that are toxic in nature and adds to the smog thus affecting the visibility especially in the mornings. Too much exposure to them can lead to serious health risks like asthma, diseases of the liver and even cancer!
Carbon Monoxide - It is emitted from the incomplete combustion of the fuel and hampers the blood’s capacity of carrying up the oxygen within the body and the overexposure is fatally dangerous!
Nitrogen Oxide - It is emitted when the nitrogen, present in air outside reacts with the oxygen in very high pressure and temperature within the engine. It is also one among the culprits to create smog and also acid rain. It has the potential to destroy the resistance against the respiratory infection in humans.
Sulfur Oxides - A standard term used for various oxides of the sulfur that are released from burning fuel of automobiles and motor vehicles, which contains a very high sulfur concentration. These are released from vehicles that burn the fuel containing sulfur in high quantities.
Particulate Matter - These are particles of micrometer size present within the smoke or the soot emitted by the vehicles which are potentially dangerous to the respiratory system.
