Product safety should not be a concern with supply chain as it regulates most of the business processes. Checking for product safety is one of the last steps in the business cycle but also the most important. The product has to be tested for safety and also established if it is safe enough for the end customer.

Recently several industries have been having trouble with safety issues like it happened with a popular medication company and also a peanut butter company. Safety issues were cropping up with even raw material and ready for consumption products like tomatoes. There were a series of safety related incidents for food supply and children toys for the products from China. While the supply chain completely encourages a business to outsource and help it develop the products for it at cheaper costs, how much emphasis is put on safety measures that meet with the standards of the United States is questionable. Does China have a proper inventory for safety related issues? The same problem arises with India. Issues related with quality and safety were also cropping up with the service industry.

When a particular supply chain is dealing with imports and exports of goods from different countries, the safety should be checked at every level and not just at the finished product stage. It is worth taking the effort before accepting the product whether it is raw material or a single component to be checked for quality and safety before it is accepted into the business model for the end product.
