Most people are stuck with the jobs that they do not like because of lack of understanding and planning of what they want to do in their life. However, if a teenager puts in more effort in self assessment before career planning, it will be very beneficial. Take a quiz about yourself and see what you are good at. Sometimes, people never realize what they are good at unless someone else tells them. There are many hidden talents and everything does not come out of interest. Some qualities are given birth to out of opportunities also.
Create an inventory of interests for yourself as a self help procedure. Take your dally schedule and see what you spend your time on and how you make use of it. Take your free time into consideration and list down all the activities that you usually do. In their free time, most people do what they like only. Take an average of 15 days and list everyday what you are doing during your free time. Against that activity show your interest level in it. Even if your mind is diverting to something else, put it on paper. List the available career options against that activity and you will soon know what to do in your life.
This process is nothing but vocational interest inventory and it is handy try it out before opting for a career.
