The term logistics come evolve from the military’s need to move from base to base.  
Logistics refers to the science and art of managing the flow of products, information, energy from the manufactures to the marketplace. Logistic is one of the most important processes in almost every business. Almost all marketing and manufacturing must get some logistic support.

Logistics management is considered to be part of the supply chain. Supply chain refers to supply network of organizations ,activities, and people.

Logistics as a business evolve from the need of increasing complexity of supplying in a business. The expert in globalized supply chain is called, “Supply Chain Logisticians.” The goal in business logistics is to manage the fruition of supply chains effectively.

Business logistics usually focus either focus in inbound logistics ( Internal logistics ) or outbound logistics ( external focus). The functions of logistic managements include inventory management, warehousing, transport, and organization.

When the term, logistics, refers in the industry, it is called, “Production logistics”. The goal of production is to ensure that the machine will be fed the right product at the the right time. In production logistics, the meaning of logistics does not refer to transportation. It usually refers to the streamline of manufacturing process.
